afrottire, for customers
Privacy and terms
Who can use afrottire
afrottire accounts are for adults aged 18 and over. Children do not sign in or use the app on their own: a parent or guardian measures and orders for them.
These are our short terms of use. Our full terms of sale are still being written and will appear here.
Who we are
afrottire is a product of Jabajenko Technologies, which is responsible for your data. Address: Lagos, Nigeria.
For anything about your privacy: email mosesdaudu001@gmail.com.
What we keep, and why
Your account: your phone number, the name you ask designers to call you (if you give one), when you joined, when you last told us you are 18 or over and which version of the question you answered, and, if you ever told us you are under 18, when. We do not keep your date of birth. We use these to sign you in and to connect you with the tailor on your orders.
Signing in: the code we send, with when it expires and how many tries were made, and a sign-in key kept on your phone so you stay signed in.
Photos of you: the app measures you from two photos on your phone. They go to our servers only if your phone cannot measure, or if you ask the app to compare with our servers, and the app tells you first. There they are used to measure you and are not stored, unless you chose to let us keep them to improve our measuring. Then they are kept for up to 365 days.
What our servers work out from those photos, with the height and weight you typed, is kept under a reference number the app shows you.
Your measurement sets: the sets you save and their names. On your phone until you sign in; then they move to our servers, where they can go with an order, and the app shows them whenever you are signed in.
Your orders: the style, fabric, price, any note you write, a copy of the measurements it is cut from, and every change of status.
Your children's measurements: see the section on children below.
Our server logs: which part of the service was asked for, and technical details of the connection. They do not record your name or your measurements.
Our legal basis
Your account and your orders: we need them to provide what you ask for (a contract with you).
Measuring from photos, and keeping photos to improve our measuring: your consent, asked on the screen before the camera opens.
Children's measurements: the consent of the child's parent or legal guardian.
Who sees it
The tailor (designer) who makes your order sees the order and the measurements on it. We pass the order to them, for example by WhatsApp, and to arrange it we may give them your name and phone number.
Google Cloud runs our servers in Iowa, USA, for us.
Your connection to our servers passes through Tailscale's network, encrypted.
The small team that runs afrottire, when they need to, for example to sort out an order or a problem.
Nobody else. The app has no advertising or analytics code, and we do not sell anyone's data.
Where it is kept
On your phone, in the app's own storage, which other apps cannot open. The app does not let Android back it up to Google.
On our servers in the USA: your account, the sets you keep there, your orders, and anything measured on our servers. We know of no decision by Nigeria's Data Protection Commission that the USA gives equal protection: Nigerian data protection law may be harder to enforce there, and US authorities can in some cases require access to data held there.
Children's measurements go to our servers only if the parent agrees to it.
Each night a backup copy of what is on our servers is saved on a computer of Jabajenko Technologies, and each backup is deleted after 28 days.
How long we keep it
Photos: as above. Not stored, or kept up to 365 days if you let us keep them.
Backups: each nightly copy is deleted after 28 days, so anything deleted from our servers is gone from the backups within 28 days.
Your account, your adult measurement sets and your orders: we have not yet set a time limit. Until we do, we keep them until you delete them or ask us to. You can delete a set yourself in Measurements. To close your account, email mosesdaudu001@gmail.com.
Sign-in codes, sign-in keys and server logs: we have not yet set a time limit.
Children's measurements: see the section on children below.
Your rights
You can see your measurements and orders in the app at any time, and ask us for a copy of anything else we hold about you.
You can correct your measurements by measuring again, and ask us to correct anything else.
You can delete a measurement set yourself, and ask us to delete your account and what it holds.
You can withdraw a consent at any time. For photos kept to improve our measuring, quote the reference number the app showed you. For a child's measurements, use the child's card in Measurements; for a child's name on an order, use the order.
You can object to how we use your data.
Email mosesdaudu001@gmail.com.
You can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC): ndpc.gov.ng.
Automatic decisions
The app works out measurements from photos with a computer model, and checks whether a set has every measurement a style is cut from. These are estimates and checks, not decisions about you: your tailor confirms the measurements, and you can always ask the tailor to measure instead.
No decision that affects your rights is made about you by automatic means.
To question or object to any of this, email mosesdaudu001@gmail.com.
How we protect it
Your phone talks to our servers over an encrypted connection (HTTPS).
Every request for the measurement sets and orders kept on our servers is checked against your sign-in, and an account can see only its own.
Your sign-in key is a long random number.
The measuring model runs on your phone, so your photos normally stay there.
Sign-in is not yet checked by a text message. Until it is, anyone who knows your phone number could sign in as you.
We do not encrypt our database ourselves.
We have not yet completed a data protection impact assessment.
Your children's measurements
